The mealybugs comprise one of the largest groups in the superfamily Coccoidea. Several species are of great economic importance as they are destructive pests to crops such as cassava, rice, citrus, avocado, coffee, sugarcane and pineapple, as well as various ornamental plants. This catalogue provides an up-to-date data, on a worldwide basis, for 1,947 species and subspecies placed in 288 genera, which have been described since Linnaeus (1758) until December 1992, the cut-off date.
