DNA transfer and gene expression in microorganisms

This book contains a number of the contributions presented at the 11th European Meeting on Genetic Transformation held in Budapest, Hungary in August, 1992. The papers range from 'traditional' and less 'traditional' topics on pneumococcus and subtilis to conjugal transfer to gene expression to transposon insertion to medical and environmental problems. Methodologies range from electroporation to field studies in order to ascertain the importance of genetic exchange under natural environmental conditions. The book is divided into four parts: DNA Uptake, Exchange and Genetic Material, Gene Cloning and Expression, Protein Secretion and Miscellaneous. It will be of interest to geneticists, microbial and classical biochemists, chemists and biologists.
