Couverture de l’ouvrage Fundamental of Transport Phenomena and Metallurgical Process Modeling
This textbook presents the fundamental of transport phenomena and metallurgical process modeling in easy-to-understand format. It covers all the important and basic concepts, derivations and numerical problems for the undergraduate and graduate engineering students. It includes topics such as fluid dynamics, mass and momentum balances, mass transfer, basic concepts of models and applications. This textbook can also be used as a reference book by engineers, professionals and research scientists to gain better understanding on mass and heat balances. Given the contents, this textbook will be highly useful for the core course of transport phenomena in metallurgical processes for graduate and advanced graduate students in various engineering disciplines. This textbook will also serve as a refresher course for advanced graduate students who are engaged in research related to transport phenomena and metallurgical processes.
Chapter 1: Fluid Dynamics.- Chapter 2: Mass and Momentum Balances.- Chapter 3: Heat Transfer.- Chapter 4: Mass Transfer.- Chapter 5: Basic Concept of Models.- Chapter 6: Applications.

Sujay Kumar Dutta is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) from Calcutta University, India in 1975 and Master of Engineering (Industrial Metallurgy) from MS University of Baroda, India in 1980. He was awarded PhD degree in 1992 by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He has one-year practical industrial experience. He joined MS University of Baroda as a Lecturer in 1981 and subsequently promoted to Professor. He became Head (Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering) and Director (ME, Welding Course) from 2012 to 2016. His major areas of research interests include iron ore-coal composite pellets, micro-alloy steel development, DRI melting, and utilization of iron and steel plants’ waste materials. Prof. Dutta has received several awards, including Essar Gold Medal (2006), Fellowship (2014) and Distinguished Educator Award (2015), all from The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Kolkata, in recognition of his distinguished service to the field of Metallurgical Education and to the Indian Institute of Metals. He was also awarded SAIL Award 2019 by The Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata. The American Biographical Institute Board of International Research had nominated him for Man of the Year 2012, for distinctive accomplishments in the Metallurgical field.

Dr. Dutta has authored of six books {including: Basic Concepts of Iron and Steel Making (Springer Nature, Singapore, 2020), Extraction of Nuclear and Non-ferrous Metals (Springer Nature, Singapore, 2018), Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Kinetics & Numerical (S Chand, New Delhi, 2012) Extractive Metallurgy: Processes and Applications (PHI, Delhi, 2018)}; and two chapters of Encyclopedia of Iron, Steel, and Their A

Covers fundamental concepts in easy-to-understand manner Explains clear and concise basics and governing principles of heat, mass, and momentum transfer Contains numerous working examples for better understanding of concepts
