Couverture de l’ouvrage Fundamental Principles of Oxidative Stress in Metabolism and Reproduction

Fundamental Principles of Oxidative Stress in Metabolism and Reproduction: Prevention and Management is a comprehensive resource for anyone needing awareness and recognition of oxidative stress as a basic component of disease to determine the precise treatment plan considering the cause of the disease. It describes the effects of oxidative stress in the human body, the detection of metabolic changes, psychological impact and effect on reproductive outcomes. In addition, it discusses alterations at the cellular level occurring due to oxidative stress along with the genetic aspects involved in its pathogenesis.

SECTION I: Overview: Cause and Mechanisms 1. Introduction to Oxidative Stress 2. Role of free radicals in normal human physiology 3. Role of Diet In development of Oxidative stress 4. Occupational hazards and Oxidative stress 5. Role of environmental in development of Oxidative stress 6. Role of radio-frequency electromagnetic waves in causing oxidative stress 7. Genetic Variations and Lifestyle in Oxidative Stress 8. Effect of Ageing on Generation of Oxidative stress Section II: Systemic Effects of Oxidative Stress 9. Oxidative Stress and Insulin Resistance 10. Oxidative stress and Cardiovascular Diseases 11. Oxidative stress and Chronic kidney Disease 12. Oxidative stress in neurodegenerative disorders 13. Oxidative stress, mechanisms and Subfertility in Female 14. Oxidative stress, mechanisms and Subfertility in Male 15. Oxidative stress, varicocele and disorders of male reproduction 16. Oxidative stress, Vitamin D deficiency and Subfertility 17. Oxidative role on oncogenesis 18. Oxidative stress in Cancer Cell death SECTION III: Management 19. Overview of prevention and management of OS 20. Current antioxidant medicinal regime and treatments used to alleviate oxidative stress in infertility issues 21. Role of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Management of Oxidative Stress

Dr Faiza Alam is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Pengiran-Anak-Puteri-Rashidah-Sa’adatul-Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Brunei, and previously worked at Aga Khan University. She has been teaching Physiology for the last 14 years. After completing her Masters (Physiology), her research as a (PHD)scholar was dedicated to identifying the polymorphisms of the SIRT1 gene affecting oxidative environment and fertility. Broadly, her research is aimed towards the causative factors of non-communicable diseases.

She cultivated a solid foundation in teaching and research within the field of Physiology. Her commitment to academic excellence and track record of delivering engaging lectures align seamlessly with the goals and ethos of your department. Moreover, her collaborative nature and interpersonal finesse have enabled her to foster strong professional relationships, enhancing both her teaching methodologies and research endeavors.
