Couverture de l’ouvrage Micro and Nanophased Polymeric Composites
Micro and Nanophased Polymeric Composites: Durability Assessment in Engineering Applications provides a comprehensive review of in-service environmental damage and degradation studies of FRP composites in a broad range of different applications. End-users such as academic and industrial researchers and materials scientists and engineers working in the design, analysis, and manufacture of composite material systems will be able to identify the possible superior advantages and limitations of FRP composites in various applications. Particular emphasis is given on the identification of various failure micro-mechanisms leading to unprecedented failure in different harsh and hostile environments.

Divided into two distinct parts, the first section focuses on fundamentals, with key chapters on the main constituents of FRP composites, mechanical properties, characterization techniques, and processing and fabrication techniques. Part two focuses on polymer composites under different in-service applications, including the marine and space environment, chemical and corrosive environments, high and low temperature environments, and other critical environments.
PART A Fundamentals of polymeric composites
1. Introduction to fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials
2. Constituents of fiber-reinforced polymer composites
3. Fundamentals of mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced composites
4. Characterization techniques for polymer composites
5. Processing and fabrication techniques of conventional and nanofiller-modified fiber-reinforced polymer composites

PART B Polymer composites under different in-service applications
6. Marine applications
7. Space applications
8. Chemical and corrosive environments
9. High- and low-temperature applications
10. Performance of composite joints
11. Some other critical applications
12. Unprecedented failure of fiber-reinforced polymer composites

Professor Ray is currently “Prof. S. S. Pani Chair Professor” at the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, India. He has been working at NIT Rourkela since 1989. Prof. Ray’s research centres on the impact of extreme environmental conditions on fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. Dr. Ray has been selected by UNESCO and the Australian Expert Committee for Industries in the Asia-Pacific region based on SCI. He has been serving as a technical advisor to TATA Steel Limited (New Materials Business). He has been serving as the editor of a SCI Journal-Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals (TIIM) Journal. Prof. Ray holds many distinguished chairs in reputed institutions and committees across the country. He has also supervised 20 PhD scholars. Prof. Ray has published more than 175 SCI Journals and 7 Books (CRC, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley publishing houses), and involved in 25 sponsored projects & consultancy services from various government and leading private industries.

Dr. Prusty is working on the development of advanced multiphase composites for improved delamination resistance and for diversified engineering applications. He is involved in 6 sponsored/consultancy projects from various public and private agencies such as NRB (DRDO), CSIR, SERB, TEQIP-NITR, Tata Steel. He has published more than 100 Scopus indexed articles and 2 books.

Dr. Rathore’s Ph. D investigation is based on the mechanical performance evaluation of hybrid fiber reinforced composites under elevated temperatures. He has authored more than 20 research/review articles on the mechanical performance assessment of fibrous polymeric composites under different environments in high impact composite journals. His research interest lies in the design and development of multiscale fibrous polymeric composites for naval, aerospace, and chemical industries. He has also co-authored a book on fibrous polymeri
