Joining of advanced and specialty materials III (conference proceedings from Materials Solutions 2000, Oct.9/11)

The development of new joining and bonding technologies has been very critical for the successful application of a wide variety of materials in demanding applications. These joining technologies also are used to fabricate large and intricate shapes, which otherwise are not practical or feasible to build using current manufacturing processes. The papers in this volume review various aspects of advanced joining technologies, processing, characterization, and joint performance. The main topics addressed include various joining techniques (brazing, welding, microjoining, etc.), joint properties, microstructural characteristics, the science and technology of interfaces, ceramic-metal joints, wetting and diffusion, and specific examples of successful applications.
