Chemometrics Applied to Electrochemical Data

Langue : Anglais

Auteurs :

Chemometrics Applied to Electrochemical Data presents a broad and up-to-date view of the use of chemometric techniques in the treatment of electrochemical data. This book discusses the potential of the multivariate thinking and a more flexible approach to data modelling in the development of applications in electrochemistry and electroanalysis. The book provides an assessment of the published literature to contextualize the state-of-the-art of the association between chemometrics and electrochemistry, indicating the most common applications (cases of success) involving design of experiments and optimization, multivariate calibration, and pattern recognition, presenting the basic concepts of the chemometric techniques employed and the particularities of their use in electrochemical data. Through practical examples and theoretical discussions of electrochemistry and chemometrics, this book will be a comprehensive practical reference which aims to help chemometrics find its space within electrochemistry.

BSc in Industrial Chemistry in 2000 from Federal University of Maranhão (Brazil). PhD in Science (Analytical Chemistry) in 2005 from Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil). During 2005-2007, he was a postdoc researcher at Federal University of São Carlos. Two stays as visiting researcher, one at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2007 and one at the University of Lincoln in 2019-2020. Joined the Federal University of Paraíba in 2008, where he was Deputy Dean for Research in 2016-2018. He has participated in 22 competitive research projects, leading twelve of them, and has supervised thirteen graduate students (MSc and PhD) and two postdoctoral researchers. He has taught regular and short-term courses dealing with general and advanced analytical chemistry, electroanalysis, and chemometrics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His mains interests and research contributions are in the following subjects: electroanalysis, chemometrics, chemical sensors, analytical instrumentation, and analytical spectrometry.
BSc in Chemistry in 1997 from Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil), PhD in Science (Chemistry) in 2003 from Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil). During 2003-2007 he was a postdoc researcher at Federal University of Paraíba and during 2007-2008 in Federal University of Pernambuco. Joined the Federal University of Paraíba in 2008. In 2015-2016 he was visiting researcher at Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina. He has supervised 10 graduate students (MSc and PhD) and two postdoctoral researchers. His mains interests and research contributions are in chemometrics, including design of experiments, exploratory analysis, calibration, selection of variables, statistical control and, more recently, second-order analysis. The applications of his interest are in complex systems such as the environment, food, and biological systems.
