Bainite in steels, 2nd ed.
Langue : Anglais

Much progress has been made in the understanding of transformations in steels since the original publication of this book. Bainitic steels are now at the forefront of new and exciting developments in steel technology. This book is therefore a timely treatment of all aspects of the bainite transformation, including phase transformation theory, microstructure-property relationships and manufacturing technology. There are fifteen chapters, beginning with the early history of the subject, and followed by the microstructural, chemical and crystallographic aspects of the bainitic ferrite and carbide phases, and the consequences of tempering heat treatments. The difficult subjects of thermodynamics and kinetics are presented in a readable way, although an attempt is made to preserve the detail necessary for microstructure modelling. A particular effort is made to present the bainite transformation in the context of all the other reactions that occur in steels.
Introduction. Bainitic ferrite. Carbide precipitation. Tempering of bainite. Thermodynamics. Kinetics. Upper and lower bainite. Stress and strain effects. From bainite to austenite. Acicular ferrite. Other morphologies of bainite. Mechanical properties. Modern bainitic alloys. Other aspects. The transformations in steel. References.
