Machine Intelligence Learning, Inference, and Evolution

Langue : Anglais

Auteur :

This book will provide an introduction to machine learning, fuzzy systems and evolutionary algorithms for senior undergraduate students at universities and colleges as well as for practitioners. The text intends to cover major schemes, methods and algorithms in different aspects of machine intelligence including comprehensive introduction of intelligent techniques for the desired audience. Fuzzy systems, reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence will be covered along with neural networks, SVM, probability, decision trees and more. This will help to establish the notion that ?intelligence? is more than "learning."

Introduction. Dealing with Data and Experiments. Classification. Learning. Uncertain and Vague Knowledge. Evolution and Animals. Machine Intelligence and Ethics. Appendices on Fundamentals.

Hamid R. Tizhoosh received the MASc degree in electrical engineering, with a major in computer science, from University of Technology, Aachen, Germany, in 1995. He received his PhD from University of Magdeburg, Germany, in 2000. He was a member of the European Union projects INFOCUS and ARROW, with a goal to improve radiation therapy for cancer treatment. In 2001, he was a research associate at the Knowledge and Intelligence Systems Laboratory, University of Toronto, where he worked on dynamic bandwidth allocation using intelligent techniques. Since September 2001, he is a faculty member in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research encompasses computational intelligence, computer vision and medical imaging. Dr. Tizhoosh has extensive industrial experience. Among others, he has worked with Management of Intelligent Technologies GmbH (Aachen, Germany), Image Processing Systems Inc. (Photon Dynamics Inc., Markham), Medipattern Corporation (Toronto) and Segasist Technologies (Toronto). Education is another focal point of Dr. Tizhoosh’s activities. He regularly organizes the “Observations and Free Inquiries” seminars to encourage dialogues on education, violence and freedom. Dr. Tizhoosh is the author of 2 books, 14 book chapters, and more than 100 journal and conference papers. He has also filed 4 patents in collaboration with WatCo (Waterlo Commercialization Office).
